Azraf Khan has recently gained the backing of John McCain, current senator of Arizona and 2008 Republican presidential candidate; Mark Cuban, business mogul; Ellen DeGeneres, celebrity talk show host; Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, celebrity, wrestler, and actor, as well as the support of the interest group Club for Growth. With Khan’s conservative platform seeking to bring a progressive twist, John McCain and Mark Cuban, who are strong conservatives, are excellent endorsements, as is Ellen DeGeneres who brings a liberal complex to Khan’s campaign, and displays support from women and the LGBT community. Khan’s endorsements express a wide range of supporters across the political spectrum, which displays his appeal to a wide pool of citizens and ideologies; moreover, these endorsements prove that the balance between Khan’s strong conservative platform with progressive ideas is effective in convincing politicians and celebrities to support him. The Club for Growth’s support for Khan indicates strong conservative backing, as well as favor for his tax reform and economic platform; this will help Khan win Republican support, especially from those who are very fiscally conservative. Unfortunately John McCain has supported both candidates Khan and Sylvester, which will create competition between the two as they will have to find unique ways to appeal to the similar pool of conservative voters.
