Eva Herscowitz

Governor Eva Herscowitz, despite her extensive involvement in her state’s legislation, foremost introduces herself as smalltown farmer from Ohio. Growing up as a corn farmer, Herscowitz propelled herself to be the first female Democratic governor of Ohio, creating the first unified bipartisan caucus in her state. Herscowitz describes her progression to be representative of the chance that she wants to give every American: opportunity and success no matter what circumstance.
The central message of Herscowitz campaign, obstacles for opportunities, encompasses her motives to capitalize on obstacles and overturn them during her term. Hercowitz identifies numerous obstacles: from aiding low income families and eradicating AIDS, to reducing the power of big business, Herscowitz hopes to bring America’s suppressed issues to the forefront of domestic policy. During her term, Herscowitz wishes to have a direct relationship with the American people: Herscowitz highlights her intentions to “talking directly to Americans, seeing what they want, not what big business wants.”
This bottom up approach is at the core of Herscowitz’ platform: wishing to combat the control that big business holds in government and healthcare, Herscowitz heavily values the input of the American people in guiding her policy. Moreover, America’s social obstacles, issues such as racism and equal opportunity, have come to the forefront of the Herscowitz campaign. Herscowitz projects working with Black Lives Matter in an effort to eradicate America’s institutionalized racism, shown in such as mandatory sentencings and police brutality.
Regarding foreign policy, Herscowitz presents a nuanced comprehensive view of American involvement in foreign affairs. While she pushes to sustain efforts to investigate Russian involvement in the US election, Herscowitz heavily stresses the perils of involving the US in “unwinnable wars.” In an overall effort to promote international peace and de escalation, Herscowitz also heavily stresses the importance of preventing Iran from using nuclear weapons.
