Katherine Sylvester
From being born in Houston to becoming a Florida Senator 10 years into her career, Katherine Sylvester has been all around the country. Graduating from Rice University with a degree in political science, Katherine went on to get her MBA in Economics from the University of Chicago. Since the beginning of her campaign, Sylvester has run on the concept of restraint. Most vehemently, Sylvester urges restraint on education, distancing herself from the current common core. She believes that states and local educators should be able to choose their own format of education. Regarding restraint on taxes, Sylvester wants lower taxes for everyone, including the low and middle class citizens. Sylvester stresses that restraint in government is not synonymous with ineffective government, rather restraint will make the government more efficient, restoring the government by, of, and for the people. When Americans themselves take charge, Sylvester contends, government will become more representative of what people want, making for a more prosperous country.
