Platform Analysis: Chaudhri
Chaudhri is a true liberal in nearly all aspects of his platforms. Having been involved in politics in multiple counties (Pakistan and the US) he sees himself as being capable of upholding America's interests while also providing a much needed foreign insight. Chaudhri claims he is most passionate about dealing with poverty and education. In regard to dealing with poverty in the United States, Chaudri proposes that education must be improved. For Chaudhri, improving education will consequently improve poverty rates. He proposes to send schools standards that teachers must meet consistently. These school standards would ultimately decide who is able to become a teacher to ensure a consistent level of quality of education throughout the US. Chaudhri also believes that safeguarding the environment is crucial to helping the poverty rates improve. He plans to issue environmental protection programs and bolster the programs that are already in place.

Concerning foreign policy, Chaudhri considers himself an expert. He believes that a humanitarian approach is crucial to not only maintaining good relations with countries but also in ensuring a proper ethical standard for the US to uphold. For example, Chaudhri plans to increase the number of refugees admitted into the US. He also plans to increase planning for overseas development and humanitarian aid. He plans to accept North Korea as a nuclear arms state in exchange for regular inspections into their nuclear arms program. He plans to increase the sanctions placed on Russia unless they cease their ongoing hostility on neighboring countries.

Continuing with his liberal approach, Chaudhri’s tax policy is progressive. He plans to place higher taxes on the more wealthy and lower taxes for those less fortunate. A basic outline of his plan includes not enforcing an income tax on the lower class, a 25% income tax on the middle class, and a 45% income tax for those making over 200,000 per year.

Chaudhri believes in universal health care. He plans on continuing the past tradition of President Obama’s Affordable Care Act (2010). He is a firm believer in the provision of equal care for all, no matter what origin.

When one half of the country doesn’t believe that there is still an overwhelming number of people that are poor, the other side is doing whatever it can to decrease that percentage. What Chaudhri plans to do is increase education to stop poverty which is something liberals are passionate about. Currently, there are standards that teachers have to pass to be able to get the job, so Chaudhri would have to be more specific in the standards he would place if they’re any different than what’s already implemented. When Chaudhri says he wants to bolster environmental programs, more liberals would be willing to vote because of their like for government “intervention” and increased government programs. But conservatives wouldn’t like this because they are against government involvement in regulations and with the “bolstering of programs” that would mean that the government would have to spend more money, using taxpayer money, making the conservatives unhappy. In terms of foreign policy, Chaudhri takes a very liberal stance. Unlike the conservatives, liberals are willing to let the US intervene in other countries’ affairs to help them out. But this would mean more money going overseas which would probably mean less money going to in home affaires, maybe not following up on some of his promises to help other groups of people. Even with a progressive tax, it limits the ability of the government to provide bigger incentives through the tax code ultimately leading to companies making less money as well as individuals not being able to write things off they used to making everyone unhappy. Finally Chaudhri’s vision for healthcare will find its following in liberals or people that are happy with how their healthcare plan is treating them.
